Verses 45-47
अहो बत महत्पापं कर्तुं व्यवसिता
वयम् ।
यद्राज्यसुखलोभेन हन्तुं स्वजनमुद्यताः ॥ १-४५॥
aho bata mahat pāpaṁ kartuṁ
vyavasitā vayam
yad rājya-sukha-lobhena hantuṁ swa-janam udyatāḥ (45)
அஹோ ப3த1 மஹத்1பா1ப1ம்
க1ர்து1ம் வ்யவஸிதா1 வயம் |
யத்1ராஜ்யஸுக1லோபே4ன ஹன்து1ம் ஸ்வஜனமுத்3யதா1:
||45||
45. Alas! We
are involved in a great sin in that we are prepared to kill our kinsmen through
greed for the pleasures of a kingdom.
यदि मामप्रतीकारमशस्त्रं शस्त्रपाणयः
।
धार्तराष्ट्रा रणे हन्युस्तन्मे
क्षेमतरं भवेत् ॥ १-४६॥
yadi mām apratīkāram aśhastraṁ
śhastra-pāṇayaḥ
dhārtarāṣhṭrā raṇe hanyus tan me kṣhemataraṁ
bhavet (46)
யதி3 மாம் அப்1ரதீ1கா1ரம்
அஶஸ்த்1ரம் ஶஸ்த்1ர பா1ணய: |
தா4ர்த1ராஷ்ட்1ரா ரணே ஹன்யுஸ்த1ன்மே க்ஷேமத1ரம்
ப4வேத் ||46||
46. If the sons
of Dhritarashtra, with weapons in hand, should slay me in battle, unresisting
and unarmed, that would be better for me.
सञ्जय उवाच ।
एवमुक्त्वार्जुनः सङ्ख्ये रथोपस्थ
उपाविशत् ।
विसृज्य सशरं चापं शोकसंविग्नमानसः
॥ १-४७॥
sañjaya uvācha
evamuktwārjunaḥ saṅkhye rathopastha upāviśhat
visṛijya sa-śharaṁ chāpaṁ
śhoka-saṁvigna-mānasaḥ (47)
ஸஞ்ஜய உவாச1 |
ஏவமுக்1த்1வார்ஜுன: ஸங்க்2யே ரதோ2பஸ்த2 உபா1விஶத்
|
விஸ்ருஜ்ய ஸஶரம் சா1ப1ம் ஶோக1ஸம்விக்3னமானஸ:
||47||
Sanjaya said:
47. Having thus spoken in the midst of the battlefield, Arjuna, casting away his bow and arrow, sat down on the seat of the chariot with his mind overwhelmed with sorrow.

ॐ तत्सदिति श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतासूपनिषत्सु
ब्रह्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे श्रीकृष्णार्जुनसंवादे
अर्जुनविषादयोगो नाम प्रथमोऽध्यायः

Iti Srimad Bhagavadgītāsūpanishatsu Brahmavidyāyām
Yogashāstre Sri Krishnājunasamvāde
Arjunavishādayogo Nāma Prathamo’dhyāyah.
Thus in the Upanishads of the glorious Bhagavad Gita, the science of the Eternal, the scripture of
Yoga, the dialogue between Sri Krishna and Arjuna, ends the first discourse
entitled:
“The Yoga Of the Despondency of Arjuna”
