January14– Chapter 1; Verses 45-47

अहो बत महत्पापं कर्तुं व्यवसिता वयम् ।

यद्राज्यसुखलोभेन हन्तुं स्वजनमुद्यताः ॥ १-४५॥ 

aho bata mahat pāpa kartu vyavasitā vayam
yad rājya-sukha-lobhena hantu
swa-janam udyatā(45) 

அஹோ ப31 மஹத்1பா11ம் க1ர்து1ம் வ்யவஸிதா1 வயம் |
யத்1ராஜ்யஸுக1லோபே4ன ஹன்து1ம் ஸ்வஜனமுத்3யதா1: ||45||

45. Alas! We are involved in a great sin in that we are prepared to kill our kinsmen through greed for the pleasures of a kingdom.

यदि मामप्रतीकारमशस्त्रं शस्त्रपाणयः ।

धार्तराष्ट्रा रणे हन्युस्तन्मे क्षेमतरं भवेत् ॥ १-४६॥ 

yadi mām apratīkāram aśhastra śhastra-pāaya
dhārtarā
hrā rae hanyus tan me khematara bhavet (46) 

யதி3 மாம் அப்1ரதீ1கா1ரம் அஶஸ்த்1ரம் ஶஸ்த்1ர பா1ணய: |
தா4ர்த1ராஷ்ட்1ரா ரணே ஹன்யுஸ்த1ன்மே க்ஷேமத1ரம் ப4வேத் ||46||

46. If the sons of Dhritarashtra, with weapons in hand, should slay me in battle, unresisting and unarmed, that would be better for me.

सञ्जय उवाच ।

एवमुक्त्वार्जुनः सङ्ख्ये रथोपस्थ उपाविशत् ।

विसृज्य सशरं चापं शोकसंविग्नमानसः ॥ १-४७॥

sañjaya uvācha
evamuktwārjuna
sakhye rathopastha upāviśhat
vis
ijya sa-śhara chāpa śhoka-savigna-mānasa(47) 

ஸஞ்ஜய உவாச1 |
ஏவமுக்1த்1வார்ஜுன: ஸங்க்2யே ரதோ2பஸ்த2 உபா1விஶத் |
விஸ்ருஜ்ய ஸஶரம் சா11ம் ஶோக1ஸம்விக்3னமானஸ: ||47||
 

Sanjaya said:

47. Having thus spoken in the midst of the battlefield, Arjuna, casting away his bow and arrow, sat down on the seat of the chariot with his mind overwhelmed with sorrow.

तत्सदिति श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतासूपनिषत्सु

ब्रह्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे श्रीकृष्णार्जुनसंवादे

अर्जुनविषादयोगो नाम प्रथमोऽध्यायः 

Hari Om Tat Sat

Iti Srimad Bhagavadgītāsūpanishatsu Brahmavidyāyām
Yogashāstre Sri Krishnājunasamvāde
Arjunavishādayogo Nāma Prathamo’dhyāyah.

Thus in the Upanishads of the glorious Bhagavad Gita, the science of the Eternal, the scripture of Yoga, the dialogue between Sri Krishna and Arjuna, ends the first discourse entitled:

“The Yoga Of the Despondency of Arjuna”
