   January 7 – Chapter 1; Verses 24-27

सञ्जय उवाच ।

एवमुक्तो हृषीकेशो गुडाकेशेन भारत ।

सेनयोरुभयोर्मध्ये स्थापयित्वा रथोत्तमम् ॥ १-२४॥ 

sañjaya uvācha
evam ukto h
ihīkeśho guākeśhena bhārata
senayor ubhayor madhye sthāpayitvā rathottamam
(24) 

ஸஞ்ஜய உவாச1 

ஏவமுக்1தோ1 ஹ்ருஷீகே1ஶோகு3டா3கே1ஶேன பா4ரத1 |
ஸேனயோருப4யோர்மத்4யே ஸ்தா2பயித்1வா ரதோ2த்11மம் ||24||

24. Being thus addressed by Arjuna, Lord Krishna, having stationed that best of chariots, O Dhritarashtra, in the midst of the two armies,

भीष्मद्रोणप्रमुखतः सर्वेषां च महीक्षिताम् ।

उवाच पार्थ पश्यैतान्समवेतान्कुरूनिति ॥ १-२५॥ 

bhīhma-droa-pramukhata sarve cha mahī-khitām
uvācha pārtha paśhyaitān samavetān kurūn iti
(25) 

பீ4ஷ்மத்3ரோணப்1ரமுக21: ஸர்வேஷாம் ச1 மஹீக்ஷிதா1ம் |
உவாச1 பா1ர்த2 ப1ஶ்யைதா1ன்ஸமவேதா1ன்கு1ரூனிதி1 ||25||

25. In front of Bhishma and Drona and all the rulers of the earth, said: “O Arjuna (son of Pritha), behold now all these Kurus gathered together!”

तत्रापश्यत्स्थितान्पार्थः पितॄनथ पितामहान् ।

आचार्यान्मातुलान्भ्रातॄन्पुत्रान्पौत्रान्सखींस्तथा ॥ १-२६॥ 

tatrāpaśhyat sthitān pārtha pitṝnatha pitāmahān
āchāryān mātulān bhrātr
̣̄n putrān pautrān sakhīs tathā (26)

1த்1ராப1ஶ்யத்1ஸ்தி2தா1ன்பா1ர்த2: பி1த்1ரூநத2 பி1தா1மஹான் |
ஆசா1ர்யான்மாது1லான் ப்4ராத்1ரூன் பு1த்ரான்பௌ1த்1ராந்ஸகீ2ம்ஸ்த1தா2 ||26||

26. Then Arjuna (son of Pritha) saw there (in the armies) stationed, fathers and grandfathers, teachers, maternal uncles, brothers, sons, grandsons and friends, too.

श्वशुरान्सुहृदश्चैव सेनयोरुभयोरपि ।

तान्समीक्ष्य स कौन्तेयः सर्वान्बन्धूनवस्थितान् ॥ १-२७॥

कृपया परयाविष्टो विषीदन्निदमब्रवीत् । 

śhvaśhurān suhidaśh chaiva senayor ubhayor api

tān samīkhya sa kaunteya sarvān bandhūn avasthitān (27)

ipayā parayāviho vihīdann idam abravīt 

ஶ்வஶுரான் ஸுஹ்ருத3ஶ்சை1வ ஸேநயோர்  உப4யோரபி |

தா1ந்ஸமீக்ஷ்ய ஸ கௌ1ந்தே1ய: ஸர்வாந்ப3ந்தூ4நவஸ்தி2தா1ன் ||27 ||

க்1ருபயா ப1ரயாவிஷ்டோ1 விஷீத3ந்நித3மப்3ரவீத்1 |

27. (He saw) fathers-in-law and friends also in both the armies. The son of Kunti—Arjuna—seeing all these kinsmen thus standing arrayed, spoke thus, sorrowfully filled with deep pity.
